Little Murals

Who doesn't love small things, whether it's a cute puppy (I'm getting one soon!) or a cherub-faced baby (till it cries, that is.)

I'm of Japanese heritage, and we love mini objects, so maybe that's what drew me to create these bite-sized pictures. Each one is 4 x 4 or 6 x 6, small in size but mighty in impact. Miniatures such as those incorporated into my pieces are trending now on TikTok and YouTube, with an entire marketplace devoted to all things small. 

Our Process

Little Murals are created with a hybrid process that includes original photography, resin, markers, paint, beads, and other multi-media. The mini tableaus have a glossy coating that is part of their appeal. The miniatures are carefully chosen to create a three-dimensional component to the imagery, the sense that one can step into the picture if given the chance. The end result is “kawaii" or  “cuteness” and a familiarity with the small scale of being. 

I like to make smaller images with the philosophy that we are all running out of space in our lives; Little Murals are compact and fit anywhere. I incorporate tiny people who are often quizzically staring into the artwork, and thus become part of the landscape. Humor is also a major element of my work, and I love to put a smile on viewer's faces, whether it's a quirky saying or bizarre juxtaposition.
